You're getting way too caught up in being responsible and losing sight of the fact that all work and no play makes you very boring indeed. No one is saying that you should skip out on obligations, but would it really harm anything if you begged off that boring meeting that you don't really want to go to anyway? Put your own needs ahead of anything else for a while. You deserve to goof off a bit.
