You have work to do, and you can't stop and be extra polite to people who are being too nosy for words! If someone really needs to know something about what's going on in your life, by all means tell them. But if they don't need to know, don't! You will find a polite way of letting them know that their involvement isn't required and their opinions aren't being solicited.
